“The Soup”

A tum yumm tomato-based soup that will bring some zest and clear your chest!

This soup is dummy easy to make. You’ll also be happy to hear there’s plenty of room for variation and experimentation. So as long as you have a carb, veg, and meat, The Soup will be a proper treat!

  • 4 Liters of water
  • 1 can (6 oz) of tomato paste
  • 1.5 Tablespoons of Tum Yumm Paste
  • 2 cups of noodles (Best with small Italian pasta)
  • 1 whole carrot and celery stick (or as much as you want!)
  • 1-1.5 Tablespoon(s) of sugar
  • As many slices of sausage as you’d like!
  • 1 whole lime squeeze
  • Chives to garnish

First, get a medium-sized pot and fill it with 4 liters of water. Once placing your pot on to the stove, adjust the knob to around medium heat! Then, add in a hefty 1.5 tablespoons of Tum Yumm paste and 1 can of the tomato paste. Once you have those two ingredients mixed in there- really make sure you push the pastes around to ensure it evenly disperses into the water! By doing this, you’re helping The Soup get to its ideal consistency (which is pretty thicc).

Next, slice the carrot and celery sticks to your liking and drop them right in. While the pasta and veggies are cooking, we’re going to start preparing the sausage! If you have a mini oven handy go ahead and turn it on to high level. If not, using a pan works just as well! Slice the sausage into smaller bits and place them on a sheet of tin foil. Next, place the tin foil into the mini oven and let it cook for about 8 minutes or place them in the pan while on medium-high heat! If using a variation involving ham or chicken you can just throw the diced up parts in the pot and let them boil.

Once your meat is cooked, go ahead and mix it into The Soup! For the next part, add in about 1 to 1.5 tablespoons of sugar. There are a few salty elements going on in this soup so this part helps balance it out. I love the combined flavors of the Tom Yum and tomato paste on their own, but by adding this part in, it helps to bring some tang to the spiciness of the soup! Now finalize this soups zesty journey, cut a lime in half and squeeze both halves into the mix. Then to top it off, drop in some chives or cut up some green onions to garnish! Pepper is also welcome, but not essential.

Reduce heat to low and let it sit for about 15 minutes and BOOM. You just made The Soup.

*Shrimp Soup Variant- When cooking with shrimpies, subbing lime for lemon is great! Also, feel free to sprinkle in some cilantro at the end. This variety is definitely a must try.
